Meet the Longmont Idol Winners for 2008
First Place
Emma Wallinford

My name is Emma Wallingford, and I am more than honored to carry the title of the first ever Longmont Idol. I went into this competition having some doubts and unanswered questions, but I decided to stick with it. My attitude in this competition quickly changed, I first felt like okay, this would look good for my singing reputation and I can finally get the chance to record my demo! But leaving it, I had SO much more than that. I met and bonded with the other contestants so well and being on that stage, being able to show people part of my soul was a reward within itself. In this competition, I really discovered within the second week that being on stage is what I love best and I have NO fear when I’m up there. I came to the realization that singing is what I want to do with my life. When I made it to the top three, I was of course thrilled but winning the competition was not the first thing on my mind. For the finale, I finale, I sang “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” and all I wanted to do was be able to sing that song for the audience, I did not even have to win; I just wanted to touch the audience, but leaving with $500 and gaining the title of the “Longmont Idol” was definitely a bonus. After it hit me, I realize it was all over and I didn’t want it to be! I had so much fun and I’m going to miss all the contestants and the people who made this possible, but maybe you’ll see me again as a judge for the next t Longmont Idol! I expect great things for the future of Longmont Idol competitions and can’t WAIT for them to start.
Thank you, Emma Wallingford
