The Nominees
Do you have someone you would like to nominate? Nominees come from all walks of life with an inspiring story to tell. Whether it is about a service performed to the community, courage in overcoming handicaps or adversity, a social enterprise, or a willingness to share their creative talents with others. Here is one such story.
Grant Johnson, age 11, is the kid that everyone at school knows. His smile alone can make anybody's day brighter. Grant accepts you no matter who or what you are. He has a completely open heart and is willing to let anyone in. This incredibly positive outlook toward the world is what inspires and encourages others.
Grant also has cerebral palsy that has forced him to be confined to a wheelchair. After all of Grant's day to day inspirations, there is one action that symbolizes his courage. One day Grant was walking with a smile as bright as the sun. As part of his occupational therapy Grant has use of a walker. He was actually walking, slowly, but he was walking. The kids in his class went bananas. Grant was getting high fives and pats on the back from everyone. Grant’s resolve is inspirational.
Si Se Puede Awards are open to all Longmont youth, from the ages of 15 to 25. Please do not inform the young person of his/her nomination. All nominees will be notified by mid November 2013
