Trash Collection, Solid Waste & Recycling
Trash/Recycling Subscription Rates
The City of Longmont provides weekly trash collection and disposal services to all single-family and many multi-family homes. Residential customers may choose between two levels of collection service. Customers can choose the full container (96 gallons of trash per week) or the smaller volume buster level of service (up to 48 gallons of trash per week). The monthly rate is $15.64 for full container collection and $11.93 for volume buster service, this includes a $2.96 waste management fee. The City of Longmont provides recycle curbside collection on every other week collection.
On your scheduled trash/refuse collection day, collection customers should simply place containers in the street in front of the curb near the corner of your driveway with the handle side facing your home. Alley collection customers should place containers on the designated side of the alley for collection. The arrows on the lid should face towards the street or alley. Make sure the containers are in the street and not blocking the sidewalk. Your containers must be at least 3 1/2 feet from objects on either side, including parked vehicles, mail boxes or fire hydrants. Your containers must be placed at the curb or designated side of the alley by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Leave a minimum of 2 feet between your refuse and recycle containers when both are placed out for collection.
All regular
household refuse, garbage and yard trimmings can be placed inside the container. Customers may request
additional containers for an extra monthly service fee to dispose of additional
refuse. The monthly rate for an additional full size trash container (96 gallon) is $11.41 and the monthly rate for an additional volume buster container (48 gallon) is $8.07. Extra containers must be rented on a six month minimum period of time.
Public Works Operations encourages the bagging of your refuse prior to placement
in your container to assist in keeping your container clean and sanitary,
as well as to help prevent litter on windy days. You are responsible for keeping
your container in a clean, sanitary condition at all times. Repairs (if needed)
to your container will be made by City personnel.
Items
that CANNOT be placed in your container include:
- Dirt, sod, concrete or rock
- Large appliances or furniture
- Hot ashes or flammable materials such as
oil, gas or paint
- Debris from construction, remodeling or demolition
- Hazardous waste or materials
