Trash Collection, Solid Waste & Recycling

In June of 1999, the City began an automated refuse and recycling collection system. The City provides each customer with a lightweight and easy to move refuse container which is specially designed for use with the automated collection systems.

All regular household refuse, garbage and yard trimmings can be placed inside the container. The refuse collection tag program was discontinued. Customers may request additional containers for an extra monthly service fee to dispose of additional refuse. Extra containers must be rented on a six month minimum period of time.

Public Works Operations encourages the bagging of your refuse prior to placement in your container to assist in keeping your container clean and sanitary, as well as to help prevent litter on windy days. You are responsible for keeping your container in a clean, sanitary condition at all times. Repairs (if needed) to your container will be made by City personnel.

Items that CANNOT be placed in your container include:

On your scheduled trash/refuse collection day, collection customers should simply place containers in the street in front of the curb near the corner of your driveway with the handle side facing your home. Alley collection customers should place containers on the designated side of the alley for collection. The arrows on the lid should face towards the street or alley. Make sure the containers are in the street and not blocking the sidewalk. Your containers must be at least 3 1/2 feet from objects on either side, including parked vehicles, mail boxes or fire hydrants. Your containers must be placed at the curb or designated side of the alley by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Leave a minimum of 1 ½ feet between your refuse and recycle containers when both are placed out for collection.

Please call 303-651-8416 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, for more information about any City Solid Waste Services.
