Curbside Recycling

The City of Longmont offers curbside recycling to single-family and multi-family customers. The City utilizes a cost effective, automated refuse and recycling collection system. Each City residential customer is provided with a container for recycling which is gray with a blue lid. This container is specially designed for use with the automated collection system. The lightweight and easy to move 96/64-gallon containers are resilient and will not corrode, deteriorate or rust. The specially designed recycling container easily handles a family’s recycling needs. They have sufficient capacity to accommodate added recyclable materials in the future as the program expands without the need for an additional container.

Please empty and rinse all containers and do not flatten containers. There is no need to remove: paper clips, stamps, address labels, staples, tape, wire, metal fasteners, rubber bands, plastic spiral bindings and plastic tabs.

If cardboard boxes don’t fit in the cart, flatten and place under cart lid. Do not put your recyclables in any plastic bags when you put them in the container as the bags are not accepted at curbside. Under the program, recyclables will be picked up every other week. Your recycling day depends on your address. We have included a calendar and map below, to help you find the correct collection dates for your area.

The City of Longmont Recycle Center is located at 140 S. Martin Street and is open seven days a week 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Recycle Center accepts all of the items the City collects at the curb, except motor oil and batteries, and also accepts low grade mixed paper, scrap metals and non-refrigerator appliances. The Recycle Center also offers commercial recycling collection for businesses. For more information about the Recycle Center programs or services, please call 303-772-7300.

Public Works will also recycle uncontaminated, used motor oil or transmission oil in clear plastic containers either by appointment for curbside collection or residents may drop off oil/automotive batteries at Public Works Operations at 375 Airport Road. The fluids MUST be in a see through, one-gallon container and must not be contaminated with other chemicals. We recommend the plastic, see through, milk or distilled water jugs.
