City of Longmont Recreation Services is involved in offering a wide range of special events throughout the calendar year
January, 2013
- Denver Nuggets Skill Challenge - Longmont Recreation Services presents a FREE competition that allows boys and girls, ages 7 through 14 (as of April 30, 2011) to showcase their talents in dribbling, passing, and shooting a basketball. Co-sponsored by the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association, Denver Nuggets, and the Colorado Beef Council. Top scorers in each age group will advance to sectional competition. - Parent's Night Out -Enjoy an evening without the kids ages 5-10 years old while they have a blast at a supervised evening of swimming and a movie. Light dinner and snacks included. Feb 16, 2013, 5-9pm.

- Youth Job & Career Fair – Longmont Recreation Services collaborates with local partners to provide an informational Youth Job & Career Fair for youth ages 14-22 at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. Thursday, March 28, 2013, 3-6pm
- Parent's Night Out -Enjoy an evening without the kids ages 5-10 years old while they have a blast at a supervised evening of swimming and a move. Light dinner and snacks included. Mar 9, 2013, 5-9pm.
- Underwater Easter Egg Hunt –This unique event is a fun opportunity for youth to retrieve weighted eggs from the water at Centennial Pool. March 30, 2013. Doors open at 1pm with egg hunt starting at 1:30pm

- 17th Annual Taste of Therapy Wellness Fair – Longmont Recreation Service’s Annual Taste of Therapy Wellness Fair is the BIG one that brings together many different alternative wellness practitioners under one roof. Apr 13, 2013
- Mud Hen 5K Race - Longmont Recreation Services co-sponsored the McIntosh Mud Hen 5K Race for seven years. With the venue firmly established in the community, the Mud Hen 5K has been turned over to Habitat for Humanity for the Mud Hen 5K's continued presence in the Longmont Community. Thank you for your past support!

- Youth Fishing Derby -
Longmont Recreation Services and the Colorado Department of Wildlife invite youth ages 15 and younger to a morning of fishing clinics and fishing fun at the Longmont Recreation Center Pond. Entry fee $5 includes five ten-minute clinics and fishing pole (limited quantities). Call 303-774-4800 to register or for more information. - Longmont Kids Only Triathlon – The Kids Only Triathlon is for youth ages 7 – 17. Event will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013at Centennial Pool. Register at any Longmont Recreation facility, the City's website or active.com.
- Longmont Triathlon and Try-a-Tri – Join us for the 33rd year of the Longmont Triathlon, the longest running triathlon in Colorado. Sunday, June 2, 2013. First wave starts at 6:45am for Sprint Distance racers. Try-a-Tri will begin directly after the Sprint Distance (approximately 9am).
- Rockies Skill Challenge - Youth ages 6-13 as of December 31, 2013, will compete in throwing, running and hitting. Boys and girls compete separately. - Hershey Track Meet -Longmont Recreation Services sponsors this free event for boys and girls ages 9-14 as of December 31, 2013. Boys and girls age divisions are separate. Winners advance to the state meet. Skyline High School Track (between Alpine & Pace on Mt View Ave)

- Summer Concert Series – Longmont Recreation Services offers a series of free summer concerts weeknight evenings.
- Airport Expo – The City of Longmont presents the Airport Expo in honor of the Kugel family, the founding family of the Vance Brand Municipal Airport.This bi-annual event will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013, from 7am to 3pm. .
July, 2013

- Rhythm on the River – Longmont Recreation Services, along with a multitude of local community partners, presents the Annual Rhythm on the River, Longmont’s Signature Event. July 12 &13, 2013
- Roger’s River Run 5k – Longmont Recreation Services offers the Roger’s River Run 5K, kicking off Rhythm on the River’s Saturday activities. July 13,

- 2013 Longmont Kinetics Sculpture Race at Union Reservoir - The City of Longmont and Kineticists
proudly sponsor this fun, family-friendly event that provides unique entertainment in the form of human-powered Kinetic Sculptures. Date July 20, 2013. Event will be at Union Reservoir, 0461 WCR 26, Longmont.

- Dog Swims at Activity Pools – Longmont Recreation Services offers Dog Swims at both Roosevelt and Kanemoto Activity Pools after the activity pools close for the summer season.

- Trick or Treat - The City of Longmont does not designate a specific date for Halloween Trick or Treating. Traditionally Trick or Treating in Longmont occurs in the early evening hours of Halloween, October 31, regardless of the day of the week.
