City of Longmont Recreation Services is involved in offering a wide range of special events throughout the calendar year
January
- Denver Nuggts Skill Challenge - Longmont Recreation Services presents a FREE compeitions that allows boys and girls, ages 7 through 14 (as of Dec 31, 2010) to showcase their talents in dribbling, passing, and shooting a basketball. Co-sponsored by the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association, Denver Nuggets, and the Colorado Beef Council. Top scorers in each age group will advance to sectional competition. Entry forms available at 12pm at the Longmont Recreation Center. Jan 9, 1pm

- Dog Swims at Activity Pools – Longmont Recreation Services offers Dog Swims at both Roosevelt and Kanemoto Activity Pools after the activity pools close for the summer season.
- Annual Father Daughter Dinner Dance – Longmont Recreation Services’ Annual Father Daughter Dinner Dance is a wonderful opportunity for fathers and daughters of any age to enjoy a magical evening of dinner, dancing, and fun!
- Airport Expo – The City of Longmont presents the Airport Expo in honor of the Kugel family, the founding family of the Vance Brand Municipal Airport.This bi-annual event will occur next in 2011.

Longmont Recreation Services is part of a community wide program to mobilize people of all ages from all walks of life to improve their health by getting physically active. Tally your steps for the week and help the community reach its goal. In 2008, more than 188,000,000 steps were logged by more than 4000 participants. Registration is available beginning September 16 at the St Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Ave, or at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Rd.

- Halloween Parade – Longmont Recreation Services presents the Annual Halloween Parade, a walking parade for youth and their families to show off their costume creations. Oct 31, 2009, 9:30am line up, 10am parade. NEW ROUTE in 2009! Download map.
- Safe Halloween Night – Longmont Recreation Services offers a Safe Halloween Night geared for youth ages 10 and under that is full of carnival games, boat rides, and Halloween fun! Oct 31, 2009, 6-8:30pm. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up at 2:30pm, to staff games from 6-8:30pm, and to assist with clean-up from 8:30-9:30pm. Dinner provided to evening volunteers.
