Outdoor Programs and Special Event Intern
Longmont Recreation Services is looking for a motivated, organized, self-starter with passion for learning about outdoor programming, a desire to gain experience working with middle school aged youth, and interest in planning special events.

Outdoor Internship Dates and Summary of Duties:

4 month or longer period from Mid February through Mid June
- Planning for the Longmont Kids and Adult Triathlons- June 5 & 6, 2010
- Planning for the Summer Outdoor Adventure Camp

3 month or longer period from Mid May through Mid August
- Facilitating the Summer Outdoor Adventure Camp
- Facilitating various outdoor summer programs

The duties of the intern will vary depending on the chosen time frame.

The Triathlons will consist of recruiting sponsorships, volunteers, organizing course logistics, marketing and day of duties.

Planning for the various outdoor summer programs would include family and/or singles camping trips, rafting, moonlit hikes, etc, and then facilitating these programs.

The Summer Outdoor Adventure Camp, depending on the time frame of the internship, will consist of planning outdoor activities for youth 12-15; hiking, rock climbing, camping, backpacking, canoeing, rafting, etc., marketing for the camp, and leading the youth through the camp activities.

Requirements:
- Must have a strong desire to work closely with youth ages 12-15.
- Current Wilderness First Responder Certification strongly preferred.
- The internship must be for college credit towards a degree in the recreation field

Salary: UNPAID

Aquatic Intern
Longmont Recreation Services is looking for a motivated, energetic, self starter with a passion for working with teenagers in the aquatic setting while learning the ins and outs of pool mechanics. The intern would be based between 3 outdoor pools and one indoor pool, assisting with staff trainings, working with staff and learning pool mechanics and chemistry.

Internship Date- specific start and end dates are flexible.
4 month or longer period from Mid April through Mid August 2010

Requirements:
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Water Safety Instructor Certifications

- The internship must be for college credit towards a degree in the recreation field
