Should my child wear goggles during swim lessons?
Part of swimming is being okay if water ends up in one's eyes. It is recommended
that beginner swimmers attend lessons without goggles until they are in a
Seals class (preschoolers) or Level 3 (grade school) or until they are comfortable
going under water without goggles. In cases where eye irritation is extreme,
goggles are welcome at any level.
Is fishing allowed at the Longmont Recreation Center pond?
Fishing is allowed by all ages at the Longmont Recreation Center Pond. All Department of Wildlife rules apply: only youth 15 years and younger are allowed to fish without a permit. There are no fees to fish. The pond is stocked with trout annually.

Why doesn't the Longmont Recreation Center have swim suit spinners?
Surveying
other recreation centers that have had the spinners, there were a number of disadvantages cited. Longmont Recreation Services has chosen not to purchase swim suit spinners given the
unusual amount of maintenance required to maintain spinners properly, the potential for swim suit damage and safety concerns.
If I am not going to swim, do I have to pay to watch my children in the
pool?
This is both a No and Yes answer. At the Longmont Recreation Center and Centennial Pool, if your child(ren) are 6 and older, you
may watch them swim at no fee. However, if your child(ren) are younger than
6, you need to be in the water with them and a daily admittance fee will be charged. At the outdoor swimming facilities, all individuals who enter the facility must pay, regardless of intent to swim.
Why doesn't the Recreation Center have weigh scales in the locker
rooms?
Keeping the scales out of the individual locker rooms has helped alleviate miss-use,
vandalism and maintenance problems. Scales are available in the fitness area on the second level for your use.
