State Highway 119 Pedestrian Underpass
The SH 119 Pedestrian Underpass is a joint project between the City of Longmont, Boulder County and the Colorado Department of Transportation. A grade separated crossing of SH 119 is planned just southwest of Hover Street. This project will provide a key pedestrian/bicycle connection between Dry Creek Drive and Pike Road as well as provide an alternative to the busy SH 119 & Hover Street intersection. Attached is a Preliminary Pedestrian Underpass Evaluation Report that was completed in 2009.
Funding for this project will be a combination of DRCOG TIP, Boulder County and City of Longmont funds. The City's local match will be funded by the Transportation System Management (TSM) Program which is funded by the City's 3/4 Cent Street Fund Sales and Use Tax.
The City has contracted with Loris and Associates to complete the final design. Design is currently underway and anticipated to continue through the remainder of 2013. Right-of-way acquisition is currently scheduled for 2013/2014 and construction proposed to begin in the Summer of 2014.
As the design progresses, the City will hold a public open house meeting to present the proposed improvements to interested stakeholders. If you have questions or would like more information about this project, please contact Micah Zogorski at (303) 651-8594.
