Downtown Alley Improvement Project Update, PW&NR

February 16, 2012 - It is an exciting time for the Downtown Alley Project. The City and the LDDA have awarded the construction contract for the three alley segments east of Main Street to J-2 Contracting Inc. J-2 has extensive experience with similar projects around Colorado and the team is excited to move the project forward. Construction is scheduled to begin March 5, 2012 in the 400 East Block.

Two public meetings have been scheduled for business owners, residents and property owners to discuss the construction process and schedule for the 300, 400 and 500 blocks east of Main Street. The meetings are scheduled as follows:

MEETING 1
Tuesday, February 21, 2012
5:30 PM to 7:00 PM

Chamber of Commerce Building
528 Main Street

MEETING 2
Wednesday, February 22, 2012
8:00 AM to 9:30 AM

Safety & Justice Center Community Room

255 Kimbark Street

Any resident, business owner or property owner that is unable to make either of these meetings is encouraged to contact the City Project Manager for further details.

The Los Arcos pieces located east of Main Street are scheduled to be moved to storage at the end February, prior to the start of construction. Juno Works has been awarded the contract by AIPP for moving the pieces and they have vast experience with a variety of art work around the world.

The LDDA unveiled their new website, www.downtownlongmont.com, February 10. The LDDA site will host any further updates related to the Downtown Alley project including construction schedules, upcoming closings and a project overview.
