Longmont Police Department, Department Guide
The Traffic Unit's purpose is to ensure the safe and expeditious movement of 
vehicular and pedestrian traffic through: providing Traffic Safety Classes for Juveniles and Adults, enforcement of traffic laws, investigation of traffic accidents, investigation of traffic complaints, coordination of the DUI enforcement program, providing education programs, and utilizing problem solving and community oriented policing. The Traffic Unit coordinates and provides inter-departmental training in the areas of speed detection, accident investigation and DUI detection. The Traffic Unit is on call for the investigation of serious injury or fatal traffic accidents.
