Project Summary
The City has initiated an amendment to the Longmont Area Comprehensive Plan (LACP) to amend the Longmont Planning Area (LPA) to include an additional 446 acres east of County Line Road, west of Union Reservoir, north of Highway 119 and south of Highway 66. A variety of land uses including residential, mixed-use, and open spaces, have been proposed for this area. Additional community facilities, such as parks and schools, will also be part of this amendment. Changes to the transportation network will also be included as part of this amendment. The master land use plan as well as the vehicle and pedestrian circulation plan show what is conceptually being proposed for this area. Links to these graphics are included on this page.
Council Communications including referrals and supplemental information
Original Referral Request - January 18, 2005 - In March of 2005, City Council authorized the referral for annexation and LPA amendment for seven of the West Union Properties. These properties submitted general information to City Council for their consideration.
City Council Communication - February 14, 2006 / Vicinity Map - Since this time, several additional properties have expressed interest in taking part in the West Union planning process. A second referral for annexation and LPA amendment went before Council in early 2006. Council considered this information and voted to refer the additional properties.
City Council Communication - August 29, 2006 - Although the LACP amendment was officially submitted in October 2006, discussions between the City, neighbors, and property owners have been ongoing. Council has received a number of informational updates throughout this process, the latest being in August 2006.
