Factory / Warehouse

Both 19th and 20th Century factories and warehouses are included in this "style" which is characterized by brick construction, flat roofs, minimal ornamentation and an urban location. Loading docks often appear on the ground floor. Some warehouses have wholesale/retail space but it is usually limited to a small section of the building, characterized by large, storefront-type windows,

Windows vary in size depending on the use of the building. Some factories require abundant light and may have many large windows, in contrast to some warehouses which have only a few small windows. While ornamentation is generally minimal, simple cornices, parapets, or decorative window surrounds and brickwork may appear on some factories and warehouses.

Here are some designated landmarks in Longmont that are representative of the Factory / Warehouse style.
