Boulder County Parks and Open Space, Boulder County Transportation, and the City of Longmont will host an Open House to update the community on the development of the St. Vrain Greenway Regional Trail between Golden Ponds and Pella Crossing on December 10, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Parks and Open Space building at 5201 St. Vrain Road, Longmont.
The purpose of the open house is to update the public on the status of the trail project and gather public input on the preliminary designs.
The St. Vrain Greenway Regional Trail was envisioned as part of the county’s regional trail system and the original master plan for the trail was approved by the City of Longmont and Boulder County in 2003. The purpose of the trail is to provide a connection between the City of Longmont and the Town of Lyons through the diverse agricultural and natural landscape of the St. Vrain River valley.
The Regional Trails program was proposed as part of the Boulder County Comprehensive Plan and is designed to link communities using multipurpose trails throughout the county. This trail will extend Longmont’s 8 mile trail (from Sandstone Ranch to Golden Ponds) another 2 miles to Pella Crossing near the town of Hygiene.
