Longmont Economic Development Director Named to National Leadership Post
Brad Power elected as trustee of Urban Land Institute
July 24, 2013 - Brad Power, Director of the City of Longmont’s Economic Development Department, has been elected to serve as a trustee of the Urban Land Institute.
The Urban Land Institute (ULI) is a nonprofit education and research organization that provides leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities across the globe. Established in 1936, the Institute has nearly 30,000 members worldwide representing all aspects of land use and development disciplines.
A ULI member since 1990, Power also serves on ULI’s national Public/Private Partnership Council and was chairman of that group from 2008 to 2011. He also is a Council Counselor, a group of former council chairs who provide advice to current council chairs and general direction for the ULI council program. ULI has 49 national and international councils that serve as a knowledge-sharing exchange organized by property sector subject areas.
ULI trustees serve as the high-level leadership group of the organization, responsible for representing and serving as the voice of the broad and diverse membership in substantive matters facing ULI. Power is one of two trustees (of a total of 140) who are employed in municipal government.
According to Power, “While this appointment is a tremendous professional honor, it also will enable me to share the development goals and opportunities that are possible in Longmont with the leaders of the real estate development industry. I’m looking forward to this tremendous leadership opportunity.” Power’s voluntary four-year term as a ULI Trustee began on July 1.
