Longmont Prepares for Winter Storm

FEBRUARY 2, 2012 - The City of Longmont is preparing for a large snow storm that is expected to begin Thursday evening. The storm is forecasted to be a slow moving, upslope storm that could bring accumulations of up to 10 inches of snow by noon on Saturday, Feb. 4.  The storm is predicted to bring five inches of snow Thursday night and an additional three inches on Friday, with more snow Friday night and Saturday.

At this time Longmont will deploy snow crews beginning at 4 pm on Thursday afternoon. Snow crews will work continuous back to back 12 hour shifts to perform snow removal duties if needed. The crews will have 13 pieces of snow removal equipment operating through the storm.

This storm has the potential to be a Level Two or Level Three snow event. The priorities for snow removal will be the higher traffic arterials and collector streets as well as the downtown area. Read the City's snow plan.

The City is asking the residents to please be alert for snow equipment when driving during the storm.

For information on the snow removal efforts please call the PWNR Call Center at 303-651-8416.
