MARCH 14, 2012 - Longmont residents are receiving a form letter from a company called American Water Resources with an offer to purchase insurance on the water service lines entering their homes. The City has received several calls from residents about this solicitation in the past few days. This company is not associated with the City and the City is neither sponsoring nor encouraging the practice of purchasing this insurance.
Property owners are responsible for the maintenance of the water service line from their property line to their house foundation. American Water Resources is a private company selling insurance that will cover certain repair costs on this portion of the water service line.
Residents should know it is rare that a water service line needs the type of repair described in this letter.
