NOVEMBER 21, 2012 - The Longmont Public Library placed 3rd in the nationwide LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! Contest sponsored by LEGO and the Association of Library Services for Children.
The residents of Longmont rallied around their library and nominated Longmont Library 35,504 times. As a result of the 3rd place victory, the Library received both a check for $2,500 and several Early Literacy reading kits. This award will be used to support hands-on learning opportunities at the library and at various SVVSD outreach programs.
The Children and Teen Services’ librarians are currently facilitating several outreach programs to K-5 classes using the Read!Build!Play! model, and in early 2013, early literacy Read! Build! Play kits will be available to families and teachers for checkout from the library.
