Replacement of Natural Gas Line to Hinder Traffic on Hover Street
JUNE 12, 2012 - UPDATE: Xcel Energy's work on their natural gas line has been extended through June 22.
JUNE 6, 2012 - Xcel Energy is replacing a section of a natural gas line that will hinder traffic for the next few days.
Xcel has begun to replace a section of their natural gas pipeline in Hover Street between Mountain View Avenue and 9th Avenue. Xcel regularly assesses their natural gas transmission pipelines, and feel this section requires immediate attention.
Construction on Hover Street will start on Wednesday, June 6 and continue through Friday, June 15. Xcel crews will work Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 7 pm and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm. They will occupy both southbound lanes of Hover Street and shift traffic into the center turn lane for southbound travel. Northbound traffic on Hover Street will not be affected.
Traffic delays will likely occur. Excel will make every effort to maintain access to all businesses throughout this work. If business access is affected for any significant period of time, they will contact the business owners in advance.
Businesses and residents in the area will not experience interruption of natural gas service during this project. "We understand this construction can be an inconvenience for you, but we want to quickly repair this section of pipe," Excel representatives said. "In addition, our construction crews can take advantage of the warm temperatures to work quickly and safely."
Xcel is coordinating with the city’s public works department to minimize the effect of this project on residents and businesses in the area.
Call the Xcel Right of Way and Permits Department at 303-898-5028 for questions or concerns.
