Longmont Residents are Getting Together to Protect and Conserve Water
AUGUST 25, 2009 - Do you know where your drinking water comes from or where the water spiraling down the drain in your sink goes? How about where the water that runs off your driveway ends up? Are you interested in leaving a legacy of clean water?
It’s easy and fun to make a difference with the ‘Keep it Clean’ Water Stewardship Program – an innovative, community-based program that engages residents in developing simple, water-friendly lifestyle practices that immediately reduce pollution and help protect our scenic streams and lakes.
As part of a team, you’ll participate in two meetings and complete an easy-to-follow program that ultimately creates a greener, more livable community. You will learn about your local water resources, review potential actions, and share your ideas – and successes! The program concludes with a fun community-based activity.
One team of five households reduced their water consumption by an average of 31% and completed a total of 35 actions. “I enjoyed learning and working together with my neighbors to protect and conserve our local waters,” said one Longmont team member.
Longmont’s first ‘Keep it Clean’ Watershed Stewardship Program informational meeting will be held at the St. Vrain Memorial Building located at 700 Longs Peak Ave. on Wednesday, September 2 from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.
The “Keep it Clean” Watershed Stewardship Program is sponsored by the Keep It Clean Partnership, a partnership of Boulder County, Boulder, Erie, Louisville, Longmont, and Superior.
