City Council to Host Public Town Meeting on August 8

AUGUST 6, 2009 - The public is invited to share their ideas on a variety of topics with three members of the Longmont City Council on Saturday, August 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Picasso Room at Longmont United Hospital. The meeting will be hosted by Council Member Mary Blue and Council Member Sean McCoy. Two issues facing the Longmont community are scheduled for discussion including:

Economic Development and Business Assistance - Longmont's new Economic Development Director will provide a brief overview of the newly established City department.
City Budget - City Council Members are interested in hearing about your funding priorities for the 2010 City budget.

This Town Meeting is the third meeting of 2009. It is part of a series of quarterly meetings planned for Longmont residents to discuss their ideas directly with members of the Longmont City Council. The Council has created a variety of opportunities for the public to talk to them outside of the formal and - sometimes intimidating - setting of the Tuesday night Council Meetings. The Council is also hosting monthly "Coffee with Council" meetings on the last Saturday of every month.
