Single-Stream Recycling Video Available on City Web Site

May 8, 2009 - In an effort to educate the public about single-stream recycling, a short educational video is now available on the City of Longmont Web site.

The 2-1/2 minute video explains the importance of recycling and the ease of single-stream recycling, an option now available to all Longmont solid waster customers. Single-stream recycling allows customers to place all recyclable items into one comingled container.

The video, produced by Ecocycle is narrated in Spanish with English subtitles.

Recyclables include newspaper, magazines, junk mail, brown paper bags, paperboard (such as tissue boxes and cereal boxes), phone books (no neon paper please), corrugated cardboard, aluminum, tin and steel cans, #1 thru #7 plastic bottles, jugs and tubs, milk and juice containers and glass jars and bottles.

Please remember: Do not put recyclables in any plastic bags as the bags are not accepted at curbside AND plastic lids and caps are not recyclable - so please remove them prior to recycling.

For more information on the City's enhanced recycling program go to Public Works web page or call Public Works at 303-651-8416.
