April 17, 2009 - You say potato…
The Longmont potato garden project is seeking volunteers to cultivate the ground at Rogers Grove on Saturday, May 9, 8 to 10 a.m. (The original date was May 2 but had to be changed).
This is the second year of the demonstration project. Last year, more than 500 pounds of potatoes were donated to volunteers and the OUR Center to help feed the Longmont community.
Volunteers should meet at Rogers Grove, 220 Hover Road, just north of the parking lot at 8 a.m. Remember to bring work gloves, shovels and hoes if you can.
Volunteers will help plant potatoes and are asked to help assist with weeding, hilling and harvesting throughout this growing season. This is a great opportunity for families to work together and see how potatoes are grown.
