The ABCs of Government Purchasing
April 8, 2009 - When you see a street paving crew or workers building a new park, we just assume they are City of Longmont employees. That’s not always true.
The City hires many different companies to perform work and provide needed products throughout Longmont. The work ranges from construction work like replacing water lines or paving streets to office work like auditing financial records to providing supplies to support the daily operation of the government.
How can businesses bid for government work? The City of Longmont and the St. Vrain Valley School District are hosting an informational meeting designed to provide insights into the world of doing business with the city and school district on Wednesday, May 6 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Longmont Civic Center, 350 Kimbark St.
"The meeting is best-suited for businesses interested in providing goods, services or construction to the City and School District," says Danielle Hinz, purchasing and contracts manager for the City of Longmont.
Attendees will hear about rules and regulations that guide the purchasing process and meet purchasing staff from both the City and the School District.
The meeting is hosted by representatives form the City of Longmont and St. Vrain Valley School District. It is designed to be interactive and questions are welcome. For more information, call 303-651-8349 or visit www.ci.longmont.co.us/purchasing.
