Fire Muster Celebrates 100 Years of Service in Longmont

AUGUST 13, 2009 - On August 15, 2009, the Longmont Fire Department will celebrate a “Century of Service” to the community.

The 100-year celebration will begin with a parade on Main Street at 9 a.m. which will run from Longs Peak to 3rd Avenue. A “fire block” will be set up in front of the 1908 Longmont firehouse at 4th and Coffman Street from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This will include fire safety activities for children and adults as well as a display of vehicles from the parade and demonstrations by the fire department.

Longmont’s newest fire station, located at 11th and Terry will be open to the public from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. While preserving many pieces of Longmont history, the use of alternative energy and resource conservation features were a priority in constructing this building. Plan to join us to celebrate 100 years in Longmont.
