September 12, 2005 – A Day of Giving in Longmont, Colorado
What is “A Day of Giving”?
The Longmont City Council has designated September 12, 2005 as “A Day of Giving” in the Longmont Community to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina.
What can I do to help?
Residents, employees and businesses are encouraged to bring monetary donations to various City Facilities. City employees and volunteers will be on hand to accept cash donations or checks to the Red Cross. The Red Cross has designated the City Facilities “Official Collection Sites” and will use the funds to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Where and when can I take donations?
Donations will be accepted at the following City Facilities from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2005 (*computers will be available for people to make their own credit card donations via the internet at locations with an asterisk):

- Civic Center – 350 Kimbark Street
- Senior Center – 910 Longs Peak Avenue
- Library – 409 4th Avenue
- Fire Station # 1 – 501 S. Pratt Parkway
- Fire Station # 2 – 2300 Mountain View Avenue
- Fire Station # 3 – 1000 Pace Street
- Fire Station # 4 – 501 23 rd Avenue
- Fire Station # 5 – 617 Barberry Drive

Where can I donate other goods (food and toiletries only, please)
Donations of food and toiletries can be made to the OUR Center, located at 250 3rd Avenue or call 303 -772-5529. Staff from the OUR Center will be accepting non-perishable food items and toiletries to replenish their stock in order to be prepared for the arrival of displaced evacuees.
What can my business do to help?
Since monetary donations will do the most to help the victims at this time, businesses are encouraged to allow their employees time to bring donations to a designated City Facility. In addition, the Longmont Area Economic Council (LAEC) will be collecting donations from businesses with a goal of Longmont businesses matching the donations of Longmont residents. Donations may be taken to the LAEC office, located at 528 Main Street. For more information, call LAEC at 303-651-0128.
