Coffee with Council on Saturday
Longmont City Council is hosting Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, January 25, at OUR Center, 250 3rd Avenue. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice. Council members Sarah Levison and Bonnie Finley are scheduled to attend. RTD to Host Northwest Area Meeting in Longmont
RTD is holding a public meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Monday, January 27, in the City Council Chambers in the Civic Center at 350 Kimbark Street to seek input and provide an update on the Northwest Area Mobility Study. The goal of the study is to help RTD and stakeholders agree on alternatives for bringing commuter rail or other transit improvements to northwest communities sooner than the Northwest Rail Line to Longmont can be completed. Free Tax Preparation
At the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue, low- to moderate-income residents, senior citizens and disabled taxpayers can get free income tax preparation from 9 am to 1 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays from February 4 through April 10. Tax preparation is by appointment only – call 303-774-4429 or email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, email address and phone number. You also can have the Colorado 104 PTC rebate form and the City of Longmont rebate form completed at the Senior Center. If you are filing ONLY the rebate forms, you can walk in without an appointment from 9 to 11 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, February 4 through April 10, or from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday, February 15. Colorado Open House: Call for Authors
The Longmont Public Library will host the 3rd annual Colorado Author Open House on Saturday, April 12, as part of the 2014 Longmont Library Festival. Table space for 50 authors will be available. To receive an application, email email@example.com or pick one up at the Library’s Information Desk. Applications will be accepted through March 1, and spaces will be filled by lottery. Preschool Open House and Registration
Do you have a child starting preschool in the fall? Don’t miss the 2014-15 Open House at Small Wonders Preschool from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Tuesday, February 4, at the St. Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Avenue. The program offers a variety of developmentally appropriate activities that help each child develop to his or her fullest − socially, emotionally, physically, creatively and cognitively. Small Wonders is licensed with the state of Colorado, and classes follow the St. Vrain Valley School District calendar for holidays and school breaks. City Line Correction: Landfill and Shred Events Scheduled for Feb 8
In the January 2014 issue of City Line, the City of Longmont's monthly newsletter, the dates for two popular cleanup events are listed incorrectly. The two events are scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2014.
Free Landfill Drop Day – 6 am to 2 pm at Front Range Landfill, 1830 Weld County Road 5, Erie.
The City provides residents this opportunity to dispose of one level pickup full of bulky trash items and debris that do not fit in curbside containers. This program is free to residential customers. Please take identification and the most recent copy of your utility bill to show that you are a City refuse collection customer. All loads must be covered. For information about what materials are accepted at the landfill call 303-673-9431.
Free Shred Event – 9 am to 2 pm at Waste Diversion Center, 140 Martin Street.
This event is for residential customers to conveniently recycle sensitive documents. Please bring identification and a copy of your most recent utility bill to show that you are eligible for this service. This is for residential customers only; business documents are not accepted.
