Deadline to Register with FEMA for Disaster Assistance is Nov. 30

The deadline to register with FEMA for disaster assistance is Nov. 30. Visit www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362 to register with FEMA no matter how large or small the scope of damage. In the two months since heavy rains brought flooding, Colorado survivors have received more than $117.4 million in state and federal assistance and low-interest loans and an additional $35.1 million in FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) payouts. In Boulder County alone, the approved loan totals are currently $40 million. FEMA has also approved approximately $30 million in grant money in Boulder County for housing and other assistance needs. For questions about FEMA or Small Business Association assistance programs, Longmont residents can visit the Disaster Recovery Center at the Twin Peaks Mall, 1250 S. Hover St. The DRC is open 6 days a week, closed Sundays, and can help connect flood victims with resources. Hours are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Sat. For more flood information visit www.ci.longmont.co.us/flood-info.

Button Rock Preserve Closed - Please Stay Out of Area

Button Rock Preserve is closed to the public as reconstruction work continues on County Road 80. There is no public access on Longmont Dam Road. The September flood washed away many stretches of County Road 80 and Button Rock is closed until further notice. This is a dangerous road, has limited access and hours, and the public is asked to stay out of the area while this important work continues. See a video tour of the area at www.ci.longmont.co.us/news/pr/2013/buttonrockclosed.
