Enhanced Mosquito Spraying on Monday and Thursday

The City of Longmont’s contractor Colorado Mosquito Control (CMC) will be conducting an enhanced mosquito spraying on Monday, August 12 and Thursday, August 15 at Jim Hamm District Park, Union Reservoir, Sandstone Ranch, Great Western/Mill Village, St. Vrain Greenway, Watersong/Creekside, and Willow Creek/Clover Basin. Sales and Use Tax Seminar on Wednesday

Do you have questions about the business sales and use tax in Longmont? A free seminar that will answer all your questions will be held from noon to 1:30 pm on Wednesday, August 14, in the Study Session Room at the Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street. Free Landfill Drop Day on Saturday

The City of Longmont is offering residents an opportunity to take one level pickup load free of charge to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Rd 5 in Erie from 6 am to 2 pm on Saturday, August 10. Loads must be covered and secured for transport. Please take a copy of your current utility bill and a photo ID to show that you are a City of Longmont customer. Fire Muster on Saturday

Join the Longmont Fire Department for the 2013 Fire Muster on Saturday, August 10. The parade on Coffman Street will begin at 9:30 am and travel from Longs Peak Avenue south to 4th Avenue. The Fire Block with parade displays, demonstrations, children’s area, and food vendors will be open from 10 am to 2 pm. For more information visit

End-of-summer Dog Swims

After the activity pools are closed for the summer, the chemicals are neutralized making the water ideal for dogs. All friendly dogs are welcome; the fee is $3 per dog. The dog swims are from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, August 13, at Kanemoto Activity Pool, 1151 S. Pratt Parkway; and from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, August 14, at Roosevelt Activity Pool, 903 8th Avenue. Balls and bags will be provided, and thank you for picking up after your pooch. No people swimming during this event – dogs only! For more information, call 303-651-8406.

The City of Longmont can use your passion, your opinions, and your desire to share in the vision for our community. City Council currently is recruiting to fill vacancies on several advisory boards and commissions. Applicants must be registered voters of Longmont for at least one year prior to serving and willing to serve for terms that last from three to five years.
