Child Safety Day is on Saturday, March 16
Join the Longmont Emergency Unit, New York Life, and the Child ID Program at a FREE Child Safety Day on Saturday, March 16, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Longmont Emergency Unit Station located at 663 17th Avenue. The goal of the program is to provide a link to helping children avoid serious or death related injuries. Child Safety Day provides an outlet and opportunity for the community to further educate themselves, connect with local agencies, and obtain information.
The Longmont Emergency Unit has provided service to the City of Longmont and Boulder County since 1957. LEU provides assistance to agencies that include dive rescue, rehabilitation support and equipment for long term events, traffic control and a variety of other services to assist the emergency service agencies of Boulder County. Give Your Opinion on City's Next District Park
The public is invited to the third in a series of five public meetings to discuss the St. Vrain Greenway Phase 11 (Pavlakis District Park) from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, March 21, at the Sunset Campus Building, 7 South Sunset Street. You can review concept plans for park improvements and provide input on preferred amenities. If you can't make it to the meeting but still want to provide input, fill out the online survey at www.ci.longmont.co.us/parks/park_dev/svgphase11/index.htm#concept. This project is on a 58-acre site between Main and Martin streets and along the St. Vrain Creek. It will become Longmont’s next district park and trailhead to the St. Vrain Greenway trail system. Book Sale to Benefit Friends of the Library
Vintage books, classics, poetry, gardening and more! The Friends of the Longmont Library will hold a book sale Thursday through Sunday, March 21-24, in the meeting rooms at the Longmont Public Library at 409 4th Avenue. The sale begins Thursday at 6 pm and ends Sunday at 4 pm.

Want to Help Out at the City's First Hackathon?
Volunteers are needed to help out at the first civic Longmont Hackathon April 12 - 14. If you would like to staff registration and information tables, help with food setup or give out prizes, visit longmonthackathon.com to sign up. The hackathon is an opportunity to meet people, build stuff, win prizes and help the community. The event is open to anyone interested in using the City’s information (open data sets) to build software and apps to enhance City services. From experienced developers to young wizards, everyone is invited to come make a difference in our community.

Free Tax Assistance Available
AARP-trained volunteers are available from 9 am to 1 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 11 at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue, to help prepare state and federal income tax forms and various city of Longmont and state rebates. Call 303-774-4429 to make an appointment. If you are filing only city of Longmont rebates, you can walk in from 9 to 11 am without an appointment. Also, Longmont VITA provides free federal and state income tax preparation on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 2050 Terry Street for most taxpayers earning up to $50,000 per year.
