Most City Facilities Closed on Monday

Longmont city government observes Martin Luther King, Jr., Day on Monday, January 21, as a holiday. The following facilities are CLOSED: Civic Center, Service Center, Senior Center, Library, Museum, Youth Center, Development Services Center, and Waste Diversion Center. Recreation facilities are open regular hours. Trash and recycling will be collected one day late throughout the week. For more information visit www.ci.longmont.co.us.

Two Events Honor Dr. Martin Luther King on Monday

The public is invited to two events honoring Dr. Martin Luther King on Monday, January 21, at Silver Creek High School, 4901 Nelson Road. At 1 pm the marade will march around the school, and at 2 pm, there will be a program in the auditorium that includes singers, speakers and a film about local civil rights trail blazers. Book Sale to Benefit Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library will hold a New Year’s Resolution book sale through 4 pm on Sunday, January 20, in the meeting rooms at the Longmont Public Library at 409 4th Avenue. This sale features books on travel, exercise, recreation, diet, self-help and more. On Sunday, fill a bag for only $5!

Winter Sprinter Adult Swim Meet

Enjoy a swim meet just for adults beginning at 8 am on Saturday, January 27, at Centennial Pool, 1201 Alpine Street.  Swimming distances range from 50 to 500 yards in freestyle, back, breast stroke, butterfly and individual medley.
