Reading League Needs Volunteers
The Reading League aims to mobilize members of the Longmont community to take an active part in making sure our 3rd graders are reading on grade-level.
Community members can volunteer to be trained as reading mentors for children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. The league will provide ongoing training and support, and group the volunteers into teams to work after school in selected elementary schools. They are looking for people who have a passion for reading, love working with children, and have good communications skills. Find out more details about Reading League Facts pdf and download an application Reading League pdf.

See the City's Snow and Ice Plan
We might see a little snow this weekend and the City's Public Works and Natural Resources Department is gearing up to keep the roads clear. See the snow plan at www.ci.longmont.co.us/public_works/streets/snow_removal.htm. The plan prioritizes streets that get plowed first. High priority roads include streets that serve schools, hospitals, and public buildings. The goal of Longmont's Snow and Ice Control Plan is to maintain a safe flow of traffic throughout the City and to ensure that each residential area is in close proximity to a plowed street. Emphasis is also placed on ensuring that emergency services can be provided throughout the City.
