Farmers Market in Downtown Longmont on Thursday
Downtown Longmont hosts a Special Farmers' Markets event on Thursday, September 6 from 3 to 7 pm. The event features farm fresh produce, local food vendors, beer and wine garden, kids activities, art show, live music by Grant McIntosh & Sharon Glassman, chef demo, free parking, produce carving and more! Free bicycle valet parking courtesy of Bicycle Longmont! Presented by The Longmont Downtown Development Authority and Boulder County Farmers Market. Most Government Offices Closed on Labor Day
Longmont city government observes Labor Day on Monday, September 3, as a holiday. The following facilities are CLOSED: Civic Center, Service Center, Library, Senior Center, Museum, Youth Center, Development Services Center, St. Vrain Memorial Building and Waste Diversion Center. Centennial Pool and the St. Vrain Memorial Building are closed on Labor Day but the Longmont Recreation Center is open on Labor Day with holiday hours from 10 am to 4 pm. Night Skydiving Operations Scheduled for Friday
Skydiving operations will take place at Vance Brand Airport on Friday, August 31, from one hour past official sunset (approximately 8:45 pm) until approximately 11:30 pm. Night jumps are required for skydivers to receive full professional certification as required by the United States Parachute Association and the Federal Aviation Administration. Apply to the Citizens Fire Academy
Have you ever wondered how heavy firefighting gear is? Try it on and see for yourself! Learn about the life of a Longmont firefighter at the Longmont Fire Department’s free Citizen Fire Academy. All your questions will be answered, and you’ll have great experiences, too. The Fire Academy meets on Wednesday nights beginning September 12. The application deadline is 5 pm on August 31. Twin Peaks Mall Open House
NewMark Merrill is hosting the next Community Open House on Thursday, September 6 at 5:30 pm to discuss the future of Twin Peaks mall. The meeting will be held in the former Steve & Barry’s store, across from the movie theater. You will have the opportunity to see the preliminary plans for the redevelopment, the potential retail uses, tentative scheduling and other pertinent issues.
