Outdoor Warning System Test on Monday
The City’s Outdoor Emergency Warning System is being tested at 10 am on Monday, August 6. The system is tested the first Monday of every month through August. Other than for testing, the system will be used only to notify the community when immediate action should be taken. If you hear the sirens and it is not the first Monday of the month at 10 am, seek shelter immediately and tune to local media for information.
Public Opinion Invited on New Ward Boundaries
The Longmont City Charter requires that ward boundaries be reestablished every 10 years so that they contain an approximately equal number of voters. Four options for new boundaries have been developed for consideration, and public comment is welcome. Through August you can get more information and complete an online survey at www.ci.longmont.co.us, complete a comment form at a City facility, or attend one of three open houses to discuss the proposed boundaries. Maps and comment forms are at the Longmont Civic Center, Senior Center, Library, Recreation Center and St. Vrain Memorial Building. The open houses are from 5 to 7 pm on August 13 at the Civic Center, from 6 to 8 pm on August 22 at the Civic Center, and from 7 to 9 pm on August 30 at the Senior Center. For more information call the City Clerk’s Office at 303-651-8649.
