Smoke and Heat Relief Available at Longmont Senior Center
To provide some relief from the smoke and heat currently impacting the Longmont community, the Longmont Senior Center is welcoming people adversely affected into the facility. Located at 910 Longs Peak Avenue in Roosevelt Park, the Senior Center has been designated a “cooling station” for anyone seeking relief from the smoke and heat, especially the elderly, young children and people with respiratory conditions. The center is open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.
Enjoy Broncos Caravan and Summer Concert
Meet Denver Broncos cheerleaders and alumni – and Miles the Mascot – from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, June 15, on 4th Avenue just west of Emery Street. The Broncos are showing their appreciation for Longmont’s support with autographs, prizes and activities for children. Large Item Stop-n-Drop on Saturday, June 23
From 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday, June 23, residents can take large and bulky household items for disposal to the Public Works Maintenance Facility at 375 Airport Road, during the Stop-n-Drop event . You must bring a City of Longmont utility bill as the program is available at no additional cost to Longmont refuse collection customers only. These items are not accepted: household waste, dirt, rock, sod, concrete, roofing materials, chemicals, limbs, yard waste, tires, auto parts, hazardous waste or refrigerators. Get Free Wi-Fi in Longmont Parks
The Longmont City Council recently voted unanimously in support of providing free Wi-Fi service in seven of Longmont’s public parks: Roosevelt, Clark Centennial, Kanemoto, Collyer, Garden Acres, Thompson and Sandstone. This service will be available by early summer. Visit Longmont Power & Communications’ website at www.ci.longmont.co.us/lpc to learn more about activity related to the City’s telecommunications network and to sign up for email updates.
Police Seeking Citizens Patrol Volunteers
The Longmont Police Department’s Citizens Volunteer Patrol (CVP) is preparing to select and train the seventh class of volunteers to join the program. Uniformed CVP members serve as “eyes and ears” for the Patrol Unit and assist other divisions as needed. Applicants must be 21 years old, and a minimum of 10 volunteer hours per month are required. No City Council Meeting Next Week
The June 19 City Council meeting has been cancelled. Most City Council members will be attending the annual Colorado Municipal League (CML) conference.
