Outdoor Warning System Test on Monday

The City’s Outdoor Emergency Warning System (OEWS) is being tested at 10 am on Monday, June 4. The system is tested the first Monday of every month through August. Other than for testing, the system will be used only to notify the community when immediate action should be taken. If you hear the sirens and it is not the first Monday of the month at 10 am, seek shelter immediately and tune to local media for information.

Veterans' Flag Display to be Dedicated

Disabled American Veterans Chapter 16 and the City of Longmont invite the public to attend the dedication of a new display of military service flags at the Veterans’ Memorial Garden at 10 am on Saturday, June 9. The garden is at the east end of Roosevelt Park on Bross Street between 8th and Longs Peak avenues.

Free Crowdfunding Seminar

From 3 to 5 pm on Thursday, June 7, the office of U.S. Senator Michael Bennet and the Small Business Development Center will host a crowdfunding seminar at the Boulder Public Library Auditorium at 1001 Arapahoe Avenue in Boulder. This event is for small and start-up business owners looking to raise early stage capital and will cover how businesses can take advantage of this new way of raising funds. Learn About Colorado's Wings of Wonder

From 1 to 2 pm on Saturday, June 9, visit the Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center at 3001 E. Ken Pratt Boulevard to learn about Colorado’s winged animals. The emphasis will be on raptors, ravens, crows and bats. Participate in activities that demonstrate the anatomy of the bat, the intelligence of ravens, the tools raptors use to hunt, and much more. LPC Offers New Efficient Lighting Program

A new efficient lighting program sponsored by Longmont Power & Communications and its power provider, Platte River Power Authority, offers rebates for energy efficient LED bulbs, dimmers and occupancy sensors purchased at Longmont retailers Ace Hardware, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, and the Walmart Supercenter on N. Main Street. Rebated prices are already included in the displayed cost on the package and are identified through signs located near product shelving. No coupons or rebate forms are required.
