City Offices Closed on January 2
Longmont city government observes the New Year holiday on Monday, January 2. The following facilities will be CLOSED: Civic Center, Service Center, Development Services Center, Library, Senior Center, Museum, Youth Center, and Waste Diversion Center. Trash and recycling collection will be one day late during this week. If you have questions about the collection schedule, call 303-651-8416. Recreation Holiday Hours
All Longmont recreation facilities will be closed on Sunday, January 1, and open on Monday, January 2, on their regular schedules. For more information visit www.ci.longmont.co.us/rec.

Recycle Christmas Trees Through January 5
Through Thursday, January 5, there are four satellite locations where you can drop off your Christmas tree to be recycled: Roosevelt Park - parking lot south of 8th Ave., Garden Acres Park - west side of parking lot off 18th Ave., Kanemoto Park - parking lot off of S. Pratt Pkwy., and Centennial Park - east parking lot off of Alpine St. Please remove all holiday decorations and lights. You also can recycle your tree at the Waste Diversion Center, 140 Martin St., during regular business hours: Monday through Wednesday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Thursday through Saturday, 8:30 am to 5:45 pm. Speak Your Mind at Open Forum on January 17
The January 17 city council meeting, beginning at 7 pm in the Council Chambers at 350 Kimbark Street, will be an Open Forum for residents to talk to council members about any topic on their minds. This is the only agenda item for this meeting; plan to arrive a little early to get your name on the list of speakers. Three Day MLK Celebration Begins January 10
The City of Longmont’s Multicultural Action Committee, Culture Task Force and All Inclusive Communities organizations are hosting an inaugural three-day celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Beginning Tuesday, January 10 a proclamation ceremony will declare the week of Dr. King’s birthday as “Honoring Dr. Martin L. King, Jr., Week” in Longmont. The ceremony will be held at 7 pm in City Council Chambers, 350 Kimbark Street. Although this ceremony is brief, the public is welcome to attend.; on January 15 residents are invited to a Marade at Izaak Walton Clubhouse at 3 pm.; and on January 16, Silver Creek High School hosts a reception at 4 pm.Call 303-651-8445.
