City to Pick up Branches and Limbs
Due to the recent storm, the City will provide a special tree limb collection in residential areas. The limbs must be curbside the week before your collection week. Branches will not be collected from alleys. Any materials on the curb after the collection date will not be picked up, and the property owner or tenant may be subject to municipal code violations. The collection program will begin November 14 and follow the leaf collection schedule. Visit www.ci.longmont.co.us/solidwaste/events/curbsideleaf.htm, or call 303-651-8416 for more information.
Shredding Event on Saturday
The Longmont Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street will hold a free shredding event from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, November 5. This event is for residential documents only; no business materials will be accepted. Please bring a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill to show that you pay the waste management fee. For more information call 303-651-8416.
Life In and Out of the Alley
The public is invited to join Longmont Housing and Opportunities Team members to learn about opportunities for and barriers to employment for Longmont’s working poor. Following the keynote by Dave Phillips, cofounder of Cincinnati Works, there will be small group stories and discussions with local employers and employees. This free event is from 5:30 to 8 pm on November 16 at First United Methodist Church, 350 11th Avenue. For more information visit www.LHOTonline.org.
"Get Connected" Workshop for Business
The City of Longmont partners with several organizations that assist both existing businesses and people who plan to start a business in Longmont. The workshop “Get Connected to Resources for Your Business” will introduce you to programs and services that are available for Longmont entrepreneurs. Most services are free or available at a nominal cost. The free workshop is from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, November 9, at the Senior Center, Rooms D & E, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. Local Businesses Invited to Participate in Shopping Bag Promotion
Longmont businesses are invited to help us kick off the holiday shopping season and participate in the City's holiday shopping bag promotion! In the November/December edition of Longmont Life, there will be a coupon that people can cut and bring to various retailers around Longmont. When they bring in that coupon and spend $15 in your store, they receive a “You (and your money) belong in Longmont” shopping bag, for no additional charge. Your business name will appear on the City’s website as a participating retailer and you will receive 20-40 bags plus a poster for your window and table tents for your register areas. Call 303-651-8840 to register your business.
