Then, from 11 am to 2 pm, visit Roosevelt Park at 700 Longs Peak Avenue for a display of parade vehicles, a children’s area, free fire truck rides, food vendors and demonstrations. Longmont Landlord Alliance Classes Begin
The new Longmont Landlord Alliance is a collaborative program between the Longmont Police Department and the Division of Community and Neighborhood Resources. Beginning Wednesday, August 10, and on each following second Wednesday of the month, meetings will be held at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. The topic of the first meeting, from 6:15 to 8:30 pm, is “Should you Hire a Property Manager?” For more information contact Susan Spaulding at 303-774-4384 or email@example.com.
Telecommunications Services for Longmont
Since 1997 the City of Longmont has operated its own fiber optic network that could serve as a backbone for a range of state-of-the art telecommunications services for the community. Unfortunately, Colorado SB152, enacted in 2005, prohibits the City from using this asset to provide services, either directly or in partnership with other organizations, including private sector companies, unless voters re-establish the City’s right to provide them. City Council has directed staff to develop a ballot question for the upcoming November election that would re-establish the City’s rights if approved by voters. If you would like to know more about this issue, please contact Longmont Power & Communications at 303-651-8793.
Festival on Main Coming August 26
The Longmont community is invited to the 11th annual Festival on Main on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Main Street! This year's event features a variety of musicians such as Soul Sacrifice, Last Men on Earth, and Burning Hot Lava, as well as fire dancers, live statues, stilt walkers, a climbing wall and many more interesting performers and activities. Also, on display will be the Boulder Kinetics watercrafts for this year's Kinetics event. For more information, visit www.festivalonmain.com.
