Outdoor Warning System Test on April 4
The City’s Outdoor Emergency Warning System (OEWS) is being tested at 10 am on Monday, April 4. The system is tested at 10 am on the first Monday of every month through August. Other than for testing, the system will be used only to notify the community when immediate action should be taken. If you hear the sirens and it is not the first Monday of the month at 10 am, seek shelter immediately and tune to local media for information.

Business Pan Essentials Workshop
In partnership with the Longmont Economic Gardening Initiative (LEGI), the Boulder Small Business Development Center is offering workshops in Longmont that are free to Longmont businesses. These workshops are an approved business training program for purposes of the City’s Business Start-up Grant Program. The second workshop in 2011 is “Business Plan Essentials” from 6 to 9 pm on Tuesday, April 5, at the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, 528 Main Street. Open Space Meeting Scheduled for April 11
A public meeting to discuss Open Space is scheduled for April 11, 2011 at the City’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting, 7 pm at 7 So. Sunset St., Parks Building. The intent of the meeting is to discuss and solicit comments from the public related to the recent Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Boulder County on the Schlagel property. Public comments about this IGA may be sent to Dan Wolford at Dan.Wolford@ci.longmont.co.us or via regular mail at the Park Shop at 7 So. Sunset.

Annual Water Line Flushing Begins April 11
The City of Longmont begins the annual flushing of water lines on April 11. You may notice low water pressure, discolored water or no water for short periods of time when flushing is taking place in your neighborhood. Please limit water use and avoid using hot water when flushing is occurring in your immediate area. For more information please call 303-651-8468. Every effort will be made to stay on schedule (see the entire schedule) but it is subject to change based on weather and unforeseen problems. Longmont City Council and Boulder County Commissioners to Meet
On Tuesday, April 5, the Longmont City Council will hold a joint meeting with the Boulder County Commissioners from 5 to 7 pm in the Safety and Justice Center Community Room at 225 Kimbark Street. Topics to be discussed are an update on cooperative efforts between the City of Longmont and Boulder County, coordination and collaboration on transportation master plans, open space, fire suppression on public lands, increased flood risk, and mosquito control. The public is invited to attend.

PD Hosts Crime Free Multi-Housing Training
The Longmont Police Department is hosting a free Crime Free Multi-Housing workshop from 7:30 am to 5 pm on April 14 at Xilinx, 3100 Logic Drive. The Crime Free Multi-Housing Program helps owners and managers of rental properties keep drugs and other illegal activity off their properties. This workshop will educate property owners and their residents on how to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods by helping reduce crime.
