Free Coffee and Conversation with City Council on Saturday
Longmont City Council is hosting an informal chat over coffee from 9 to 10 am next Saturday, March 26, at Mr. Bean Coffee, 1844 Hover Street. At Coffee with Council, you can talk with two council members on any topic of your choice. For information about city council meetings and agendas, call the City Clerk’s Office at 303-651-8649. Stop-n-Drop on Saturday
Public Works Solid Waste Operations will host a Large Item Stop-N-Drop from 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday, March 26, at the Public Works Maintenance Facility, 375 Airport Road. Customers can bring large and bulky household items for disposal, and city employees will unload your items for you. You also must bring a current City of Longmont utility bill as the program is available at no additional cost only to Longmont refuse collection customers. Register for Garden in a Box
Planting season is close. Pre-order your garden on-line. Select your favorite of three pre-planned xeriscape gardens Designed by respected local designers. Each garden includes
• A planting plan
• 30 or more plants
• Helpful xeriscape gardening hints
Only $60 to $100 per garden. All Plants are suited for Colorado’s climate. You can order your plants now on line at www.ConservationCenter.org. Plants will be available on May 14, 2011 at the north east corner of Roosevelt Park. The City of Longmont and Center for ReSource Conservation have joined forces to bring you these water conservation measures. To register please call 303-999-3820, ext 217.

Annual Water Line Flushing Begins in April
The City of Longmont begins the annual flushing of water lines on April 11. You may notice low water pressure, discolored water or no water for short periods of time when flushing is taking place in your neighborhood. Please limit water use and avoid using hot water when flushing is occurring in your immediate area. For more information please call 303-651-8468. Every effort will be made to stay on schedule (see the entire schedule) but it is subject to change based on weather and unforeseen problems. Water Wise Landscaping Seminars Offer Useful Tips
Free Seminars are being offered to Longmont residents on how to successfully utilize water-wise landscaping. Past topics have ranged from design, installation and renovation of xeriscapes, to plant selection and efficient irrigation. Seminars are two-hours and are Free and open to the public. Leisure Pool to Open for Spring Break
After being closed for several weeks for repair work, the Longmont Recreation Center leisure pool will be open on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 5 a.m. just in time for spring break.
The leisure pool is a popular area for young teens and tots. It features the lazy river, tube slide, body slide, tree slide, zero depth entry, water fall, fountains, tot area and more. Diving boards, basketball hoop, water slides, lazy river and spray amenities are turned off during swim lesson times.For more information about the rec center visit www.ci.longmont.co.us/rec/gen/lrc.htm.
