Help Add Health Concepts to City Comp Plan
You are invited to a public open house to discuss updates to the Longmont Area Comprehensive Plan (LACP). The City is
identifying opportunities to incorporate community health-related language into the LACP. Be ready to share your opinion on how the concepts of healthy eating and active living can be incorporated into the LACP. Wednesday, January 27, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave. Please call 303-651-8336 for more information.

Final Weekend to Recycle Holiday Lights
This is the last weekend to divert your old holiday lights from the landfill. Longmont Power & Communications and the City of Longmont offer free holiday lighting recycle service at these facilities through Monday, January 25: Civic Center (350 Kimbark), Recreation Center (310 Quail Road), Memorial Building (700 Longs Peak Avenue), Service Center (1100 South Sherman Street), Recycle Center (140 Martin Street), and Budget Home Center (780 Boston Avenue). Bins are located outside these facilities – drop off your lights any time, day or night.

Free Shredding Day Benefits Longmont PD
Longmont residents are invited to bring up to three boxes or bags of paper documents for free shredding on Saturday, January 30 from 9 a.m., to noon at Golden Archives Records Management, 111 S. Pratt Pkwy. Donations will be accepted with 100 percent of the money going directly to the Longmont Police Department Identity Theft Division.

Longmont Population Estimate: 86,303
Recent research and analysis indicates Longmont's population as of December 31, 2009 was 86,303. According to the 2000 Census, there were 71,093 people living in the City of Longmont as of April 1, 2000. The 2007 year-end population estimate, completed by the City of Longmont's Planning and Development Services Division, placed the population at 86,194. Based on these year-end estimates, the population of Longmont has increased by an estimated 109 people or 0.1% since 2008.

Free Coffee and Conversation with City Council
Longmont City Council is hosting an informal chat over coffee on Saturday, January 30, at Ziggi’s Coffee House, 400 Main St., from 9 to 10 a.m. Talk with City Council members about any topic. Mayor Bryan Baum and Council Member Katie Witt are scheduled to attend. For information about Council meetings and agendas, call the City Clerk’s Office at 303-651-8649.
