Next Coffee with Council Scheduled for January

Coffee with Council, usually held the last Saturday of the month, has been cancelled in December due to the holidays. The next Coffee with Council is Saturday, January 30, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Ziggi’s, 400 Main Street.

Household Hazardous Waste Facility Closed for Holidays

The Boulder County Household Hazardous Waste facility will be closed from Wednesday, Dec. 23 through Tuesday, Jan. 5. The facility will resume its regular schedule on Jan. 6. The HHW facility is normally open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, and from 8 a.m. until noon on Fridays and Saturdays. Before delivering any waste, residents are advised to call the HHW facility’s hotline at 303-441-4800 for closure information. The HHW facility is located at the Western Disposal Services waste transfer station at 5880 Butte Mill Road in Boulder. Christmas Tree Recycling Begins December 26

The City of Longmont will be recycling Christmas trees for residents from December 26, 2009, through January 5, 2010. Trees can be brought to the Longmont Recycling Center at 140 Martin Street seven days a week (closed New Year’s Day) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or to one of these drop-off sites:

Apply for Cultural Grants

Applications are available for the City of Longmont's Cultural Event Grants. All Longmont organizations and individuals are eligible for the grants, which support community celebrations of Longmont's vibrant and distinct cultural richness. Don't miss the opportunity to apply. Grants are due Friday, January 22 and an informational meeting will be held for all interested applicants from noon to 1p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in the City Council Study Session Room in the Longmont Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street. Council Meetings Accessible Online

There are several options for accessing the minutes City Council meetings and viewing them on-line if you don't have Comcast cable:

1. Meetings are streamed live on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. on the channel 3 Web site at http://www.channel3.org/

2. The meetings are replayed several times during the week on channel 3. You can find the broadcast schedule at http://www.channel3.org/schedule.html

3. Video archives of meetings can be found at the City of Longmont Web site at http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/videos/index.htm

4. Meeting minutes can be found on the city Clerk Web page at http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/city_council/minutes/index.htm

5. DVDs can be checked out at the Longmont Library and viewed on your home DVD player.
