Former Council Members to be Recognized at Public Reception
The Longmont community is invited to a public reception honoring former Mayor Roger Lange and former City Council Members Karen Benker and Mary Blue on Tuesday, November 17 at 5:30 p.m. Please join Mayor Bryan Baum and the Longmont City Council in recognizing the public service of these former elected officials in the Longmont Civic Center Mall located at 350 Kimbark St. Call 303-651-8601 for more information.

Applicants Sought for Police Review Panel
Longmont City Manager Gordon Pedrow is accepting applications for volunteers to serve on the Longmont Police Department Professional Standards Review Panel. The panel reviews highly confidential information including internal investigations and allegations of misconduct. Read the list of special requirements for this position on the City's Web site. City Offers Incentive to Local Businesses
With the adoption of a local purchasing preference policy, the City of Longmont will offer local businesses a 5 to 7.5 percent advantage when bidding on City of Longmont contracted work and services. The policy is designed to keep dollars spent by the City in the Longmont community. The City is hosting an informational meeting on November 20 at 9 a.m. in the Longmont City Council chambers. Ice Pavilion to Open This Weekend
The Longmont Ice Pavilion is scheduled to open on Saturday, November 14 at 10 a.m. The Ice Rink is operated by the City of Longmont, Recreation Services. Located at Roosevelt Park, 725 8th Avenue, the Longmont Ice Pavilion is a seasonal ice rink, offering public ice skating, hockey, skating lessons and party facilities throughout the winter, weather permitting. Public Invited to Homeless Event on November 18
What’s it like being homeless and leaving homelessness in Longmont? Community members are invited to an event called "Life in and Out of the Alley" on November 18 to find out. This event is held in recognition of National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week. It will be held 6 pm to 8 pm at the Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. A light supper will be served.
