As the old song says, “Get your kicks on Route 66.” This venerable two-lane highway originated in Chicago , wound through the American heartland and ended in Los Angeles . Called the “ Mother Road ,” Route 66 was the stuff of dreams. Today it is the stuff of memories. St. Louis photographer Shellee Graham took a journey along Route 66 during the 1990s. Her photographs show not only the neglected icons of a time gone by, but also the persistence of a collective American memory.

Four vintage automobiles enhance the exhibit. These classic cars still hum with the dreams of the Mother Road .
