LPC's historic hydroelectric plant--the inside views

The two 250 kW generators running side by side.

Generator #1, the upstream generator. The turbine is the covered portion of the equipment. This is where the water spins the turbine.

Generator #1. The rotors are located in the spinning part of the generator.

Generator #2, the downstream generator. The generator is the open portion of the equipment. This is where the mechanical energy is converted to electricity.

This picture shows all the equipment required to convert the water's mechanical energy into electricity.

Each generator contains two inlets entering the turbine. Each inlet has valves and pressure regulating and monitoring equipment.

The turbine is shown here. At the top portion of the picture, the wheel/gear mechanism is the gate valve. Each generator has two gate valves.
