What to do in a power outage
When you experience an outage, call LPC immediately:
303-776-0011
According to Longmont Power & Communications' 2009 system-wide statistics, a typical home or business in Longmont averages less than one power outage that last longer than a minute each year.
When you do experience an electrical outage, check your breaker box to verify
that a breaker has not been tripped. If no breakers are tripped, call Longmont
Power & Communications to report the outage. LPC line workers are on call
24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to outages. Remember to jot our phone
numbers down in a convenient location.
During a major storm, when live power lines might be down, inspect your yard
from a window inside your home before going outside. If you notice downed
lines, call LPC immediately.
In preparation for an outage or any emergency situation, have an energy supply kit available. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security offers a checklist of items to include in your kit. Access this checklist and create your kit before an emergency takes place.
