12-0037 CUSTODIAN, MEMORIAL BUILDING, COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPT. HIRING RANGE: $13.25-$15.90/HR. REGULAR FULL TIME + BENEFITS. M-F 7:00 AM-4:00 PM.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision of the Recreation Center Supervisor, is responsible for the timely and complete care, set-up, maintenance and cleaning of the St. Vrain Memorial Building; 40 hours per week. Requires skill in cleaning and maintaining City facilities so that they are safe and sanitary for the general public and employees.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, strip and polish floors; shampoo carpets; dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures and equipment; wash windows and walls; clean desks and countertops; empty and clean waste receptacles; clean restrooms, showers and locker rooms; maintain supplies in restrooms; move and arrange furniture and equipment and set up rooms for classes, special meetings or events; replace lights; lock and unlock doors; open and close City buildings; responsible for building security and available for call backs during non-scheduled hours; pick up papers and other debris; maintain custodial supplies and equipment. Adaptable to daily changes in routine.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This is a heavy labor position, requiring significant physical exertion to perform job duties. Work is often performed alone during non-traditional hours, including evenings or early mornings. Work may be performed in a standard office environment, an industrial environment, or in buildings with heavy public use. Work includes exposure to excessive intermittent noise, dust, silica, possible intermittent exposure to asbestos, fumes, smoke or gases, solvents, cleaning solutions, grease and oils, radiant energy, electrical energy, and slippery or uneven walking surfaces.

QUALIFICATIONS: A combination of education and experience sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance and six months experience performing similar custodial duties. Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license. Preference will be given to applicants with previous custodial experience.

Selection process will include complete job description review, personal interview, background investigation, criminal background check and substance screening. Applicants for this position will complete a Functional Capacity Exam.

12-0032 SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR, FINANCE & SUPPORT SERVICES DEPT, ENTERPRISE TECHNOLOGY SERVICES DIV. HIRING RANGE: $4523-$5428/MO. REGULAR FULL TIME + BENEFITS, M-F, 8-5.

DEFINITION: Responsible for the operating system and associated subsystems. Provide system-level support of our new Cisco VOIP telephone system, multi-user operating systems, hardware and software tools, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of these systems. Identify alternatives for optimizing computer resources.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Assist Network Analysts and PC Specialist on a daily basis. Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems. Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade systems, hardware and software interfaces with the operating system. Support the Cisco VOIP and unified communications systems (ACD and IVR), the Call Manager and Cisco Unity system and administer and provide scripting for the Cisco UCCX system. Analyze and evaluate present or proposed business procedures or problems to define data processing needs. Prepare detailed flow charts and diagrams outlining systems capabilities and processes. Research and recommend hardware and software development, purchase and use. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems including user access and component configuration. Install, configure, and upgrade desktop hardware and peripherals to include: network cards, printers, modems, mice and add-in boards. Work as team member with other technical staff, such as networking to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems. Write and maintain system documentation. Conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current system. Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information processed, stored or accessed by the network. Document system problems and resolutions for future reference. Perform typical administration for network environment under direction of Network Analyst Staff.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a standard office environment. Work requires problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Work involves frequent reading, reasoning, customer contact, multiple concurrent tasks, constant interruptions, heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds. or more), pulling, pushing, reaching, walking, standing, bending/stooping. Work involves occasional sitting, climbing, twisting, kneeling, and squatting. Requires periodic travel to other departments. Responsibilities may include evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.

QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree required or Microsoft MCSA and three to five years of PC and service support and system analysis experience. In addition, basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.

12-0031 POLICE RECRUIT, PARTOL DIV, POLICE DEPT. HIRING RANGE: RECRUIT PAY $52,032/YR, LATERAL PAY $57,456-$68,400/YR DOQ. FULL TIME WITH BENEFITS. SHIFT WORK REQUIRED.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Following completion of training, new Police Recruits will be assigned to the Patrol Services Division which provides around-the-clock patrols to deter and detect crime, enforce traffic laws, and conduct investigations of crime and traffic incidents. Hours and days off will vary depending on shift assignment.

APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. At least 21 years old at time of application.
2. High school diploma/GED and a minimum of 60 semester hrs. college-level credit at an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Dept of Education is required for those with no previous qualifying experience.
3. No felony conviction(s) or conviction(s) involving moral turpitude (see CRS 18-5, 18-6, 18-7, 18-8).
4. Physical ability to perform essential job functions.
5. Possession of a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
6. Authorized to work in the United States.

Spanish/English bilingual skills are desirable. Supplemental pay of $25-$100/mo is available for non-probationary employees with bilingual skills demonstrated through testing.

Education requirements may be waived for individuals who have qualifying experience credits as follows:

• Sworn Patrol or Investigative experience OR
• Colorado POST certified full-time paid civilian corrections officer experience in a County Jail, Federal Prison or State Prison
• Experience credits are given only for full years of experience and only for individuals not out of the policing or corrections profession longer than 12 months as of the date of application.
• 2 yrs experience credit = 30 hours college credit; 3 yrs experience credit = 45 hours college credit; 4 yrs experience credit = 60 hours college credit. Time served in military assignments is not eligible for experience credit. The Department reserves the right to change education requirement waivers for subsequent recruitments.

11-0390 CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION SUPERVISOR, ENGINEERING SERVICES DIV, PUBLIC WORKS & NATURAL RESOURCES DEPT. HIRING RANGE: $4,523 - $5,428/MO. REGULAR FULL TIME, M-F 8-5.

DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Public Works and Natural Resources Engineering Services Manager supervise staff providing inspections and provide assigned project management for utility, water distribution, wastewater collection, street and transportation and other Public Works and Natural Resources Engineering services projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Implement and support actions to create a work culture in the Division and Work Group that is focused on excellence, accountability for results, customer service, teamwork, and support of the Department and City. Plan, direct and supervise an inspection work group within the Engineering Services Division, including recommending planning strategies for construction inspection services; coordinating activities with other work groups, divisions, departments, outside agencies, and the general public. Hire, train, and develop, guide and mentor employees toward improved performance in a manner consistent with City values and expectations. Provide general and technical supervision of personnel and evaluate performance. Manage staff and resources to optimize work group performance. Evaluate technical information and provide information and recommendations to Project Managers, other City staff, the Engineering Services Manager, and the Public Works and Natural Resources Department Director. Supervise or participate in the review of plans and specifications of assigned projects and provide input regarding design alterations to improve constructability and final product. Manage minor construction or utility projects. Coordinate office and field inspection tasks within the Department and other City departments and outside agencies on minor projects and assist on major projects. Assume responsibility for project quality, scheduling, and finances. Participate in the update of the City of Longmont Design Standards and Construction Specifications, and make recommendations on implementation of City standards, codes and specifications. Understand, interpret, and ensure compliance with applicable City, Regional, State and Federal rules, ordinances, regulations and guidelines. Make recommendations on the use of new materials, procedures, and equipment related to construction of public works infrastructure. Work with other staff to develop the annual work plan for the work group, oversee work and monitor progress; make necessary adjustments in work assignments. Ensure that all safety regulations and City safety policies are communicated, understood and adhered to by staff. Practice an inclusive supervisory style with people from a variety of backgrounds, ethnic or racial groups, age groups, personality styles and genders. Build alliances, foster effective teamwork and build constructive relationships within and between individuals and other work groups. Coordinate activities with other City departments, divisions, outside agencies, the public and contractors. Demonstrate behavior that sets a positive example for integrity, fiscal responsibility and professionalism. Resolve difficult customer issues. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed outdoors in the field. Work involves exposure to sun, noise, dust, fumes, smoke, gases, moving vehicles, machinery, and all types of weather conditions. There may be occasional exposure to solvents, grease, oils, pesticides, herbicides, and water. Work will involve walking or standing, frequently on slippery or uneven surfaces, for up to 6 hours per day. Work requires pulling, pushing, reaching, use of fingers and hands, climbing, crawling, bending, twisting, kneeling, and squatting. Must have correctable near and far vision, ability to distinguish colors, hear, speak, and write. Work requires ability to read and understand documents, blueprints, and maps. Position requires ability to work under stress with constant interruptions and perform multiple concurrent tasks. Ability to perform detailed work, solve problems, use reasoning and deal with customers is required. Frequently requires working non-traditional, often protracted hours, particularly during construction periods.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by training in construction inspection methods or a related field plus four to six years of construction management, project coordination and increasingly responsible construction inspection experience in utility, street, and/or drainage projects. Two to four years of supervisory responsibility preferred or demonstrated skills/training in supervision.

Special Qualifications: Possession of a valid Colorado Driver’s license required. Must have or ability to obtain within one year, a minimum of a Level 4 Water Distribution and a Wastewater Collection certification, a Traffic Control Supervisor certification from the American Traffic Safety Services Association, a Colorado Department of Transportation Erosion Control certification, a Colorado Department of Transportation Level 1 Concrete Inspection certification. Must attend CDOT Local Agency Manual Training for Federal Aid Projects.
