2011 Junior Golf

Overview

The City of Longmont Junior Golf Program will provide to area boys and girls a noncompetitive, enjoyable and affordable golfing experience with emphasis on instruction in the fundamentals of the game, rules, safety, etiquette, and care of the golf course under the supervision of PGA Golf Professionals. Youth must be between the ages of 5 and 17.

Junior Golf Camp

Camps are held at Sunset, Twin Peaks and Ute Creek Golf Courses. Each camp consists of (2) two-hour lessons over two days. Although it is not required, golfers are encouraged to attend a camp before participating in the Junior Golf League. Junior golfers who previously attended camp are welcome to attend another camp to improve their skills. The instructor to student ratio will be a minimum of 1 to 4 and a maximum of 1 to 10.

Junior Golf League

League play will be held each Monday from June 13th through August 8th. There will be no play Monday, July 4th. All 2011 league play will be held at Sunset Golf Course. Jr. league times as followes

Ages 5-17 - Sunset Golf Course
Ages 5-9 - Check-in time 7:30am; shotgun start at 8:00am
Ages 10-17 - Check-in time 10:00am; shotgun start at 10:30am

Parents and juniors are strongly encouraged to attend the orientation sessions which will be held on June 13th at 8:00am for 5-9 year olds and 10:00am for 10-17 year olds. League play will begin immediately following the orientation. All league participants will receive a golf shirt, ball marker, ball mark repair tool, tees and a complimentary nine-hole round of golf. A parent-child golf outing will be held at Sunset on Monday, August 8th at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. There will be no play on Monday, July 4th.

Junior Golf "First Step" and "Next Step"

In addition to the newer "Next Step" program, the City of Longmont Golf Services is excited to add a new opportunity to the junior program. The “First Step” combination lesson and play will be offered this year at Twin Peaks Golf Course under the supervision of PGA Professional, Keith Martin. If your junior has not had the opportunity to participate in the junior golf camps and would like to combine beginner instruction and actual play, the “First Step” is for them!

The "Next Step" weekly lesson and play starts Tuesday, May 31st. The "First Step" weekly lesson and play starts Monday, June 20th.
Instruction time with Golf Professional from 10:00am-12:00pm.
Players that would like to play 9-holes after their lesson will check in at 12:15 am and begin their round.
Students are not required to attend each week and may attend as many weeks as desired.
"Next Step" fee is $20 per week plus a $7 green fee per player.
Registration will begin on May 24th. Junior golfers will register with Keith Martin one week prior to the lesson they would like to attend

Camp and League Registration

Registration for all camps and the league will begin on March 31st on-line and at all courses. The camp registration fee is $40 per junior. The league registration fee is $20 per junior and the green fee is $7 each day. All parents or guardians are required to complete a Program Participation Form at time of registration.
