2010 CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT
FOR EXCELLENCE IN FINANCIAL REPORTING
The City once again achieved the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the year ended December 31, 2010. This Certificate represents the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the City of Longmont, its management and its Finance Department. Longmont has received this award 32 out of the past 33 years, and for the past 30 consecutive years.
Financial reports qualifying for the Certificate of Achievement provide a detailed vehicle by which market analysts, investors, potential investors, creditors and others may assess the attractions of a government’s securities compared to other governments or other investments. In a close bond rating call, the availability of a CAFR meeting the Certificate requirements can make the difference towards the positive side of the scale.
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving nearly 14,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois, and Washington, D.C.
