COMMUNITY OVERVIEW

The City of Longmont has a workforce of 47,167 employees with 3,181 licensed businesses. According to a 2008 study by the Boulder Regional Business Partnership, 45.63% of the people who work in Longmont also live in Longmont, the highest rate in the Boulder Region.

The Longmont Area Economic Council reports that as of July 1, 2008, there are 193 primary employers in the Longmont Area employing a total of 12,208 persons. Primary employers are those who export the majority of their goods outside of the region, thus bringing money into the Longmont Area. In the first half of 2008, Longmont saw a net increase of 282 primary jobs.
